As Regular Readers (Sufferers?) and Twitter Followers (true suffering) will know, I am in Summer Mode at the moment and updating the Website is not really top of my list for fun things to be doing !! But it’s no big deal - it just means less Blogs and I will be skimping over this one - I will outline why I bought the Stock and what the Risks are and the Valuation Case, Targets and Technicals - that should give you a good idea of why I have put more money into TTR.

This is a subject that seems to crop up on Twitter discussions at least once a week. I figured that if I do a detailed Blog on the issues, then I can send out a link every time someone asks me the same question as I have responded to 300 times before !!
Don’t take that seriously. I am always very willing to take questions from people and it actually helps everybody because lots of ideas and approaches come out in our discussions and many, many Readers and Twitter People have exactly the same issues. So please keep the questions coming and I promise I will not just send you a link to this Blog !! I scribbled out a Plan on A4 Paper with regard to what I need to cover in this Blog, but to be honest I am not totally sure how to structure it. I think in very simple terms I will go through a list of the Factors to Consider when deciding on how many Stocks to hold and then I will do a sort of Conclusion which has suggested numbers of Stocks for people of varying needs. That probably makes no sense at the moment, but hopefully it will all come out ok by the time we all reach the end of this Blog.

I recently sold out of my Costain (COST) Shares at 339p as they seemed to have peaked in the Short Term and I am trying to reduce my total number of Positions and take a bit of Risk off the table prior to Summer lulls, the usually weak month of June and of course the Greek silliness. I am a bit annoyed with myself over this trade - the ‘Rules’ are that I should buy a Stock using Normal Shares first and then if it starts to move up, I should add a Spreadbet of a suitable size. The trouble with this one is that I just didn’t buy the Spreadbet for some daft reason. To be fair to myself, COST is a choppy little bu*ger and it just never seemed to give any clear Buy Signals for the Topup - but I am kicking myself (not easy when you are Paraplegic !!) because I really threw away a pile of easy money here. Perhaps I should be more mechanical and when I buy Normal Shares, I should just Buy a Spreadbet as well - I could always add more later.

Markets have clearly got a bit more nervous as we move into June and the Greek problems seem to be creating a bit more worry in the Markets. Summer is always a difficult time for Markets and I always like to be heavily into Cash and/or, like this year, to have big Shorts on to Hedge my Long Portfolio. I thought it might be helpful to Readers to give a view on how I intend to play things from here and it will help me get my thoughts clear and help my forward thinking. You may have seen from some Blogs and stuff that I very much like to be ahead of the game (hey, it’s essential if I really am going to beat the Bears), and having a Strategic Plan for the coming months is utterly vital I feel - it’s my Roadmap. This Blog contains some general thoughts on how I think things will play out and how I am positioned.

I topped up my Holding in Avation (AVAP) on the morning of Wednesday 3rd June 2015, buying more Stock at 137p, to give me about 2% in total of my Portfolio Exposure in the Company. I find AVAP an intriguing Stock as it is involved in an Industry that I suspect the vast majority of Investors have no understanding of. The usual reaction I hear from people is “oooh, it’s got a lot of debt” and then they swiftly move on to the latest Hot Rocket Small Cap Mining Stock………….

You may have seen that I bought more St. Ives (Epic code: SIV) early in the morning on Friday 29th May and I wanted to do a quick Blog to give Readers a view on why I made this Decision. I am in Summer mode and trying to take things easy so I will not do a hugely detailed Blog - but you will find the guts of my Decision in here and you can have a look into the Company yourself if you wish to. Remember this is not a Recommendation to Buy or anything. |
